Garr's "Bubble Boy" op-ed signals disaster for Robertson

A young Gregor Robertson ponders a career in politics
Many Vancouver politicians meet a critical juncture, a tipping point if you'd like, that is so resonant that it labels them permanently. For some it happens early in their political career, for others this turn occurs much closer to the end of their public life.
For example, when the Vancouver Sun's City Hall reporter Frances Bula referred to Councillor Jennifer Clarke as "Lady MacBeth," the political career of a highly successful public servant virtually came to an end. When Allen Garr described Mayor Larry Campbell as a "bully" in many of his columns, that label stuck. Years later, Bula wrote that Mayor Sam Sullivan had patented the term "EcoDensity" for his personal gain (in complete absence of the facts of that story) but it dogged Sullivan until his final days in office.
For Gregor Robertson, his critical turning point might be fatefully near the beginning of his time as mayor of Vancouver. And the person we can thank for this defining moment is an unlikely source, left wing columnist and Vision Vancouver supporter Allen Garr.
The Beekeeper, in his column to be published in tomorrow's Vancouver Courier, but is now available online, has written his most damning critique ever of a sitting left-leaning Mayor. It's as though he's auditioning for a column here at CityCaucus.com.
